LTO RO8 conducted a 2-day Gender Sensitivity Training to its employees on March 25-26, 2019 at Leyte Park Resort Hotel, Tacloban City.
This activity was attended by 32 newly-hired employees of LTO 8 who were hired from June 2017 to present.
The 2-day GST was designed to deepen the awareness and knowledge of participants on gender issues, identify situations and needs of women and men to consider them in every action or decision they make.
The resource speakers in the entire training were: (1) Ms. Rowena B. Dirain, Administrative Officer V of DOTr Central Office, (2) Mr. Edgar S. Saret, Chief, Regional General Service Office of LTO Region 6, (3) Mr. Abdel Shan Amilassan, Chief, Administrative Division and Acting Regional Legal Officer of LTO Region 9, (4) Ms. Riza L. Sison, Assistant Manager- Procurement Department of Clark International Airport Corporation, and (5) Mr. Charlie Apolinario A. del Rosario, Assistant Chief of LTO San Fernando.
The resource speakers provided the participants with an understanding of the basic concepts of gender issues and its relevance to the society, increased their awareness on the various global and national gender equality situations, and envisioned LTO to address the gap on Gender and Development. The workshops conducted helped in boosting the awareness and dedication of the participants to become an advocate of Gender Equality.
It is therefore important that employees of national government agencies are aware of gender relations issues and carry out interventions as professionals to guarantee gender-fairness in the work-place.
